CFSA| Soliciting Opinions on 7 New Varieties of Food Additives

On September 29, 2025, the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) opened 7 new food additives for public feedback, including three new varieties of food additives such as Sucrose 1-fructosyltransferase, a new variety of food nutritional fortification substance — Lacto-N-tetraose, a food additive with the scope of use expanded — Carbon dioxide, and two kinds of food nutritional fortification substances with quality specifications supplemented — 2'-fucosyllactose and Lacto-N-neotetraose. Any comments can be submitted before October 29, 2025. Details are as follows:

Two new varieties of enzyme preparations for food industry

The quality specification requirements of enzyme preparations for food industry should comply with the provisions of the National Food Safety Standard Food Additives Enzyme Preparations for Food Industry (GB 1886.174).

A new variety of food flavoring substance

Chinese name: 2-甲基-1-(2-(5-(对甲苯基)-1H-咪唑-2-基)哌啶-1-基)丁-1-酮

English name: 2-methyl-1-(2-(5-(p-tolyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl)piperidin-1-yl) butan-1-one

Function classification: food flavoring substance

A new variety of food nutritional fortification substance

Chinese name: 乳糖-N-四糖

English name: Lacto-N-tetraose, LNT

Function classification: food nutritional fortification substance

The usage, scope of use and quality specification of Lacto-N-tetraose should be implemented in accordance with the draft of the food nutritional fortification substance Lacto-N-tetraose in the Publicly Soliciting Opinions on 8 New Varieties of Food Additives Including Aminopeptidase issued by the CFSAs (except for Appendix C Information on Production Bacteria for Lacto-N-tetraose). The production bacteria information of the new variety of nutritional fortification substance is shown in the table below.

1. Food nutritional fortification substance 2'-fucosyllactose

The quality specifications of this substance should be implemented in accordance with the NHC Announcement No. 8 of 2023 (except for Appendix C Information on Production Bacteria for 2'-fucosyllactose), and the production bacteria information on the new variety of nutritional fortification substance is shown in the following table.

2. Food nutritional fortification substance Lacto-N-neotetraose

The quality specifications of this substance should be implemented in accordance with the NHC Announcement No. 8 of 2023 (except for Appendix D Information on Production Bacteria for Lacto-N-neotetraose), and the production bacteria information on the new variety of nutritional fortification substance is shown in the following table.
