Q: Does dietary fiber play a role in energy calculation?

A: The energy conversion coefficient of dietary fiber is 8kJ/g, including the dietary fiber contained in the product itself and other monomer components of dietary fiber such as indigested oligosaccharides, indigested starch and resistant dextrin. When dietary fiber is indicated in the nutrition label of the product, the energy provided by dietary fiber should be calculated. If dietary fiber is not indicated, it should be excluded in the calculation of energy.
