On October 22, 2025, the CFSA opened 10 new food additives for public feedback, including two new varieties of food additives — Xylanase and Cellulase, a new variety of food nutritional fortification substance — 3-fucosyllactose, three food additives with the scope of use expanded such as curdlan, and four kinds of food additives with quality specifications supplemented such as lycopene. Any comments can be submitted before November 22, 2025. Details are as follows:
Two new varieties of enzyme preparations for food industry
The quality specification requirements of enzyme preparations for food industry should comply with the provisions of the National Food Safety Standard Food Additives Enzyme Preparations for Food Industry (GB 1886.174).
A new variety of food nutritional fortification substance
Chinese name: 3-岩藻糖基乳糖
English name: 3-fucosyllactose, 3-FL
Function classification: food nutritional fortification substance
The usage, scope of use and quality specification of 3-fucosyllactose should be implemented in accordance with the draft of the food nutritional fortification substance 3-fucosyllactose in the Publicly Soliciting Opinions on 8 New Varieties of Food Additives Including Aminopeptidase issued by the CFSAs (except for Appendix C Information on Production Bacteria for 3-fucosyllactose). The production bacteria information of the new variety of nutritional fortification substance is shown in the table below.
A food additive with the the scope of use expanded
Two food nutritional fortification substances with the the scope of use expanded
Four food additives with quality specifications supplemented
Lycopene
This quality specification is applicable to lycopene, a food additive produced from glucose by cultivation, fermentation, extraction and purification processes. The production bacteria of lycopene should undergo safety evaluation and meet the requirements of the following table.
a refers to donor of geranyl pyrophosphate synthase
b refers to donor of phytoene synthase
c refers to donor of phytoene desaturase
2'-fucosyllactose
The quality specifications of this substance should be implemented in accordance with the NHC Announcement No. 8 of 2023 (except for Appendix C Information on Bacteria for the Production of 2'-fucosyllactose), and the production bacteria information on the new variety of nutritional fortification substance is shown in the following table.
a refers to donor of α-1, 2-fucosyltransferase
D-Calcium Pantothenate
Dosage and scope of use
Inositol
