Annual Conference of the Dairy Industry Association was Held

Recently, the 31st Annual Conference of the China Dairy Industry Association, the 2025 China Dairy Technology Expo, and the 2025 Dairy Carnival National Dairy Consumption Season were held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The event was hosted by the China Dairy Industry Association and co-organized by the Institute of Nutrition and Health of China Agricultural University and Nanjing Weigang Dairy Co., LTD. At the meeting, leaders from relevant state departments, domestic and foreign dairy industry experts, as well as industry insiders, jointly discussed plans for the high-quality development of the dairy industry around the conference theme of "Innovation Leading Consumption and Promoting National Nutrition and Health".

01 Continuous innovation Enables China's dairy industry to forge ahead

At present, China's dairy industry still faces many severe challenges. The industry still needs to deepen scientific and technological innovation and break through the bottlenecks of core technologies. Accelerate digital transformation and build a smart dairy industry ecosystem; Practice green and low-carbon development and create a model of sustainable development; Expand the consumer market and activate the growth momentum of domestic demand; Strengthen the bottom line of safety and safeguard the defense line of quality consumption; Strengthen talent support and consolidate the foundation for industry development.

The National Health Commission has been constantly improving the dairy product standard system, formulating and releasing over 100 safety standards for dairy products including raw milk, covering raw milk, dairy products, infant formula milk powder process control and corresponding inspection methods, etc., forming a relatively complete dairy product standard system.

Technology empowerment enables industries to deal with pressure and predicaments more calmly. It can be seen that breakthroughs have been made in the independent breeding of domestic industrial development. Biofortification technology is becoming increasingly mature; Low-heat sterilization technology is continuously innovated to achieve a dual improvement in the flavor and nutrition of milk. Lactoferrin separation technology is steadily expanding into new fields; Domestic fermentation agents have successfully broken through. The integration of food and medicine into dairy innovation; Artificial intelligence promotes the efficiency improvement of the entire industrial chain. A breakthrough has been made in high-speed aseptic filling technology. Breakthroughs have been made in the synthesis technology of oligosaccharides in breast milk. The digital and intelligent factory has emerged from its cocoon.

02 Facing the challenge head-on, experts offer suggestions on the development path

In recent years, the output of raw milk has grown rapidly, while the expansion of the consumer market has lagged behind, resulting in an overproduction of raw milk and a decline in the output of dairy products. This has become the main problem and constraint factor affecting the sustained and stable development of China's dairy industry. The shrinking of the dairy product consumption market will have a significant adverse impact on the sustained and stable development of China's dairy industry. The entire industry must respond seriously, work closely together, develop new quality productivity in the dairy industry, create new products, increase new categories, optimize the variety structure, and expand the consumption market, in order to get out of the predicament as soon as possible.

Facing opportunities and challenges, product innovation, consumer-centricity, adhering to long-termism and diversified development will undoubtedly be the new paths for the industry's development.
