Recently, the National Health Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation jointly issued the Announcement No. 2 of 2025, releasing 50 new national food safety standards and 9 amended documents, including 2 food label standards—General Standard for the Labeling of Prepackaged Foods and General Rules for the Nutrition Labeling of Prepackaged Foods. The State Administration for Market Regulation formulated and issued the Measures for Supervision and Administration of Food Labeling, which will be implemented simultaneously with the newly revised GB 7718-2025 National Food Safety Standard General Standard for the Labeling of Prepackaged Foods.
The coordinated implementation of the three new regulations on food label will significantly enhance the standardization and information value of food label, refine the labeling requirements, reduce the ambiguity zone, and improve the consistency of law enforcement, which will help build a more transparent food market environment and promote the high-quality development of the industry.
The three new regulations will be officially implemented from March 16, 2027. Antion suggests that enterprises should pay close attention to the transitional period of the implementation of regulations and prioritize the label of high-inventory products.
