According to the monthly notice of non-entry foods by GACC, 260 batches of imported foods were found unqualified and not allowed to enter China in August 2022.

The information shows that non-entry foods came from countries or regions including Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and the United States.

The main unqualified reasons of non-entry foods were unqualified labels, inconsistent cargo certificates, failure to provide certificates or qualified certification documents as required, failure of sensory inspection, failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access, non-compliant use of food additives and nutritional fortification substances and unqualified package. In addition, some foods have other problems such as detection of animal diseases, expired shelf life, containing animal-derived ingredients that have not been approved for inspection and quarantine and contamination and corruption.

The Measures for the Administration of Import and Export Food Safety stipulates that the labels of import food shall comply with the laws, regulations, national food safety standards of China; the labels of imported health food or food for special dietary use in Chinese must be printed on the smallest sales package, and shall not be affixed thereto. When importing foods, importers must strictly abide by the requirements of the laws, regulations of China, check relevant documents, and ensure that the products are qualified before import, to avoid unnecessary losses.

The GACC stated that these non-entry foods have been returned or destroyed at the ports according to laws.
