Information on Food Not Allowed to Enter China in August 2025

On September 16, 2025, the GACC published the information on food not allowed to enter China in August 2025. A total of 617 batches of imported food from 52 countries/regions were rejected.

Most non-compliant imported food in August came from Ecuador (18.5%, mostly aquatic products), followed by Japan (8.9%, mostly alcohol beverage) and the U.S. (7.7%, mostly meat products). The main food categories not allowed to enter China are aquatic foods, meat products, beverage and alcohol and miscellaneous products. The major reasons for import rejections were as follows:

  • Non-compliance with national food safety standards (26.1%)

  • Unqualified labeling (25.4%)

  • Detection of animal epidemic diseases (14.1%)

  • Inconsistence between goods and certificates (9.4%)

  • Issues with registration of food manufacturer (7.5%)
