From January to November, 2024, China imported a total of 2.25 million tons of various types of dairy products, a decrease of 11.3% year-on-year, with value of $10.07 billion, down 10.3% year-on-year. Among them, the import amount of milk powder in 0.76 million tons, down 19.7% year-on-year, and the value is $5.72 billion, down 14.5% year-on-year; the import amount of infant and young children formula milk powder is 189,000 tons, down 9.6% year-on-year, and the value is $3.66 billion, down 6.4% year-on-year.

In 2024, in terms of infant and young children milk powder, the food regulatory agency of the State Council issued a total of 13 relevant regulations; 12 drafts for comments; 8 relevant national food safety standards. Local food regulatory agencies issued a total of 10 relevant regulations.

In 2024, SAMR totally approved 196 applications for registration of infant and young children formula milk powder products, including 31 domestic enterprises, with a total of 159 formulas; 12 oversea enterprises, with a total of 37 formulas.
