On August 25, 2025, the GACC published the information on food not allowed to enter China in July 2025. A total of 476 batches of imported food from 37 countries/regions were rejected.
Most non-compliant imported food in July came from the U.S. (19.9%, mostly processed fish and meat products, beverages), followed by Spain (17.6%, mostly meat products) and Japan (13.0%, mostly beverages). The main food categories not allowed to enter China are meat products, beverage and alcohol, aquatic products, processed fish and meat products and miscellaneous products. The major reasons for import rejections were as follows:
Non-compliance with national food safety standards (42.6%)
Unqualified labeling (16.6%)
Failure to provide documents and certificates as required (15.9%)
Inconsistence between goods and certificates (8.8%)
Lack of market access permits (2.9%)
