In order to further implement the relevant requirements on "improving the responsibility system for food and drug safety" and optimize the approval and administration of animal and plant quarantine for entry foods, in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine and its implementing regulations and relevant provisions, after risk assessment, it is decided to adjust the catalogue of imported food subject to the approval and administration of entry animal and plant quarantine. The announcement is as follows:

I. Cured meat products, casings, dairy products, aquatic products and bird's nests for human consumption will no longer be subject to the approval and administration of quarantine.

II. The above categories of imported food should come from countries (regions) that meet the requirements of assessment and review and overseas manufacturers of foods that have been registered by the General Administration of China Customs, and the products should meet the relevant inspection and quarantine requirements.

III. The food subject to the approval of entry by special permission should still be subject to the approval of quarantine in accordance with the Measures for the Administration of Approval of Entry Animal and Plant Quarantine.

IV. The General Administration of China Customs should, on the basis of the assessment results of the safety risks of imported food, dynamically adjust the catalogue of imported food subject to the approval of entry animal and plant quarantine.

This announcement should come into effect as of the date of promulgation.
