In the first half of 2025, the national market supervision departments completed 2,639,000 batches of food safety supervision and sampling inspection. The overall unqualified rate was 2.61%, with a decrease of 0.17% compared with the same period in 2024.
Analysis of Unqualified Food Categories
The supervision sampling unqualified rate of processed grain, edible oil, oils and fats and their products, livestock and poultry meat and by-products, meat products and dairy products with large consumption was 0.37%, 0.46%, 0.61%, 1.04% and 0.03%, respectively, and the overall situation of food safety is stable. Compared with the same period last year, the unqualified rates of 22 categories of foods such as raw dried nuts and seeds, aquatic products and catering food reduced, while that of 16 categories of foods such as fruits, fresh eggs and food for special medical purpose increased.
Analysis of Unqualified Reasons
The main reasons for non-compliance are the use of food additives beyond the scope or limits, excessive pesticide residues, organic contamination, microbial contamination and excessive veterinary drug residues.
For the unqualified foods found in the supervision and sampling inspection, the market supervision departments have released the results to the public, and taken measures in a timely manner in accordance with relevant regulations to strictly control food safety risks.
