Mainland Suspends Import of More than 100 Items of Taiwan Foods

On August 1, 2022, according to the official website of the General Administration of China Customs, some Taiwanese manufacturers violated relevant regulations and were stopped importing urgently. It is restricting the export of Taiwanese manufacturers’ products that have not completed the renewal registration to the mainland in accordance with the General Administration of China Customs No. 248 Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Registration and Administration of Overseas Manufacturers of Imported Food. Among them, there are many well-known enterprises, including Vigorkobo, Kuo Yuan Ye Foods, Wei Lih Foods, Wei Chuan Foods and Tai Sun Enterprises. According to the official website of the General Administration of China Customs, in the product category "biscuits, pastries and bread, among the 107 manufacturers of Taiwan that have obtained Chinese registration numbers, 35 have the status of "suspended import".

From August 3, 2022, the customs suspend the acceptance of customs clearance for citrus fruits, chilled white hairtail and frozen horse mackerel from Taiwan region, and shall promptly notify relevant enterprises within their jurisdictions of the above.

Since last year, the mainland customs have repeatedly detected quarantine pests—Planococcus minor, and the residues of fenthion and dimethoate in citrus fruits exported from Taiwan region to the mainland. COVID-19 nucleic acid was detected positive on the package of chilled white hairtail and frozen horse mackerel exported from Taiwan region to the mainland. In order to prevent risks, according to the relevant laws and regulations of the mainland, it is decided to suspend the import of citrus fruits, chilled white hairtail and frozen horse mackerel exported from Taiwan region to the mainland from August 3, 2022.
