In the third quarter of 2024, the national market supervision departments completed 2,087,424 batches of food safety supervision and sampling inspection according to national food safety standards. Among them, 61,572 batches of unqualified samplings were found, and the unqualified rate was 2.95%, with an increase of 0.35% compared with the same period of 2023.
Analysis of Unqualified Food Categories
The supervision sampling unqualified rate of processed grain, edible oil and fat and their products, meat products, egg products and dairy products with large consumption was 0.67%, 0.96%, 0.87%, 0.15% and 0.13%, respectively, which were all lower than the overall unqualified rate. Compared with the same period last year, the unqualified rates of 13 categories of foods such as vegetable products, roasted foods and nut products reduced, while that of 20 categories of foods such as aquatic products and foods for special dietary uses increased.
Analysis of Unqualified Reasons
Some unqualified items accounted for the total amount of unqualified samples: microbial contamination 16.32%, organic contamination 11.29%, failure for pesticide residue indicator 39.94%, use of food additives beyond the scope and limit 14.99%.
For the unqualified foods found in the supervision and sampling inspection, the market supervision departments have released the results to the public, and taken measures in a timely manner in accordance with relevant regulations to strictly control food safety risks.
