Nutribén IF was Found Nonconforming in Vitamin D and Vanillin

Recently, the Beijing Market Supervision Department reported the risk control of unqualified foods, showing that in a batch of "Nutribén" infant formula milk powder (stage 1), vitamin D and vanillin does not meet the provisions, and the related products have been removed from the online store.

Data shows that vitamin D is an indispensable element in the process of human growth and development. It is stipulated that the vitamin D content in the product shall be within the range of 0.25μg/100kJ—0.75μg/100kJ in the National Food Safety Standard Older Infants and Young Children Formula (GB 10767-2010), and at the same time the amount of nutrients added shall not be lower than 80% of the value stated on the label.

Vanillin is a commonly used food additive and is widely used in various flavored foods that need to be increased the aroma of milk, especially dairy products, baked foods, beverages and edible oils. According to the National Food Safety Standard Standard for Uses of Food Additives, any food flavoring substances should not be added to the infant and young children formula (0 to 6 months).

According to the special food information inquiry platform of the State Administration for Market Regulation, the manufacturer of "Nutribén" is the Spanish enterprise ALTER FARMACIA, S.A., which has registered three formulas of "Nutribén" infant and young children milk powder, but the registration will expire on December 26, 2022. If ALTER FARMACIA, S.A. fails to apply for the 2nd formula registration in time, this series of milk powder will not be able to enter the Chinese market through general trade in the future.
