Information on ​Food Not Allowed to Enter China in October 2024

On November 22, 2024, the General Administration of China Customs (GACC) published the Information on Food Not Allowed to Enter China in October 2024. A total of 198 batches of imported foods from 28 countries/regions were rejected.

Most non-compliant imported food in October came from the U.S. (14.6%, mostly beer products), followed by Canada (10.6%, all sports nutrition products), and Japan (9.6%, mostly beer products). The major reasons for import rejections were as follows:

  • Unqualified labeling (32.3%)

  • Inconsistency between goods and certificate (21.2%)

  • Incompliance with food national standards (19.7%)

  • Issues regarding overseas manufacturer registration (11.1%)

  • Detection of animal epidemic diseases (7.6%)

20 batches of sports nutrition products from Canada were not allowed to enter China in October due to unqualified labeling. Two batches of infant and young children foods from Thailand were rejected due to unqualified labeling.
