On July 4, 2024, Implement the Spirit of Central Document No. 1 to Promote the High-quality Development of Dairy Industry—the 10th Anniversary of High-quality Milk Project and the Special Meeting of the Professional Committee of Feeding and Environment was held in Wuhan International Convention Center.
The Research Report on the Quality and Safety of Milk Products in China (2024) was released at the meeting. The report, released annually since 2016, focuses on the progress of science and technology research on quality and safety in the milk industry.
The report showed that China's fresh milk production increased year by year, quality and safety maintained a high level, the sampling averages for milk fat and milk protein are 3.9% and 3.3%, reaching the level of developed countries; those for total plate count and the number of somatic cells are better than the EU standard.
The content of active factors in domestic liquid milk is significantly higher than that in imported liquid milk. Among them, the lactoferrin, β-lactoglobulin and α-lactalbumin in domestic pasteurized milk reached 45.4 mg/kg, 3746.9 mg/kg and 1409.7 mg/kg, respectively, which were 2 to 5 times those of imported pasteurized milk. Through quality improvement, domestic milk has enhanced the core competitiveness in the market, and is playing an increasingly important role for a strong nation and a healthy China.
