Recently, Changsha Market Supervision Department announced that the detection value of vanillin did not meet the requirements of national food safety standards in Bioshine Goat Infant Formula (for 0-6 months, Stage 1, Specification: 800g/can, production date: 2020-07-29, batch number: MANF13730) which was produced by NIG Nutritional sLtd Trading as Food Contractors Ltd and imported and operated by Bioshine (Hunan) Dairy Co., Ltd.
Vanillin is a commonly used food additive and is widely used in various flavored foods that need to be increased the aroma of milk, especially dairy products, baked foods, beverages and edible oils. According to the National Food Safety Standard Standard for Uses of Food Additives, any food flavoring substances should not be added to the infant and young children formula (0 to 6 months).
In response, Changsha Market Supervision Department issued an administrative penalty decision, confiscating 36,767 cans of Bioshine Goat Infant Formula; confiscating 1.2284 million Yuan of illegal income; and imposed a fine of 1 time the value of the goods, namely 5.7667 million Yuan. The above fines and confiscations totaled 6.9951 million Yuan.
Bioshine company issued a Statement on its official website, saying that the company attaches great importance to this matter and immediately started self-inspection and market product disposal, stopped the operation of the above batch of products on the same day, actively carried out recalling and sealing the batch of inventory products and handed over recalled and inventory products to market supervision department for storage and destruction. In order to reduce the harmful consequences, the company sent all other batches of inventory milk powder for inspection the first time. No vanillin was detected in the samples, and the test results meet national standards. At present, there is no above batch of products on the market.
